Tanning Tips In the tropics the sun’s rays beat down with greater power and intensity than in more temperate climates, and for this reason you will need to take greater care against sunburn. Heeding the following pointers may mean the difference between a fun-filled vacation and a pain-filled one …. Start off with limited periods of sun exposure, 20 – 40 minute periods alternated with equal time in the shade. Drink plenty of liquids to keep the pores open. Start your tan with lotion as this helps screen the UV rays whereas oils are specifically designed to magnify the rays. After your sunbathing do not take hot showers as this helps to wash away the body’s natural oils. Stay moist after your sunbathing as well as during, by using moisturizers fortified with Aloe and Vitamin E as these help preserve the youth of your skin. Once again, moderation is the key to the safest tan.
Tipping, Service Charge, Tax For your convenience, a 10% service charge is included in your accommodation rate in lieu of gratuities. Further tipping is at your discretion. A Government tax which is currently 8.5% will be added to your accommodation account.
Telephone All rooms are equipped with a modern automatic telephone system that will also allow for international direct dialling (IDD) with or without hotel or local telephone operator’s assistance. A local island directory is placed in each room for convenience. For internal dialling, check your Special In House Directory for extension numbers.
Televisions All rooms are equipped with a television and feature approximately 18 cable channels. Water Sports These services are available on the beach by private operators. These usually feature: windsurfing, sunfish sailing and waterskiing. Other water sports activities are also available for your pleasure. Check with ‘’Owners’ Club Facilities’ for current special watersports arrangements.
Water Conservation Fresh water is probably Antigua’s most precious commodity, as annual rainfall is a mere 40 inches, resulting in the occasional rationing in private homes, businesses and hotels. Please help us to conserve water and, we apologise if any of the measures we impose inconvenience you in any way. The tap water is safe to drink although many people prefer to buy bottled water for drinking.
